City Clerk

The City of Oxford operates under a mayor and board of aldermen form of government. The mayor has the superintending powers of all the officers, employees and affairs of the city. Additionally, a chief operating officer and chief financial officer assist with day to day operations of the city and its staff. There are more than 300 City of Oxford full-time employees, including Oxford Electric Department, the Water & Sewer Department, The Oxford Conference Center, Visit Oxford, and the Oxford Park Commission.

The City Clerk's Office includes the City Clerk, the Deputy City Clerks, and Accounting. Additionally, the Clerk's office is responsible for tax collection and privilege (business) licenses.

The City Clerk shall give notices of meetings, post the agenda, attend regular and special meetings, record votes of council, keep minutes of board meetings and perform such other duties as may be assigned by the mayor and board.
