Oxford Named 2015 Healthy Hometown Award Winner

Oxford was named a winner of the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation 2015 Healthy Hometown award. The town is awarded a $25,000 grant from the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation for encouraging and rewarding exemplary community health and wellness. With the $25,000 grant award, Oxford plans to enhance the city’s bike trail with an outdoor fitness zone so that circuit-style training can be combined with cardiovascular activities.

The Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation exists to improve the health of Mississippi, and the award assists MS municipal leaders in their efforts to make their communities a healthier place to live.

A municipality from each of these three categories receives a $25,000 grant from the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation:

Large town: 15,000 or more residents
Medium town: 5,001 - 14,999 residents
Small town: 5,000 or fewer residents
