City Pool Closing - Summer 2024

The City of Oxford and Oxford Park Commission (OPC) announce the closing of the Oxford City Pool for the 2024 summer season. For the past 10 years, several small-scale improvements have been made each off-season to the swimming pool. In 2022, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen tasked OPC and city staff to explore long-term options for the pool. After working with architects, receiving public input, evaluating cost estimates and schematic plans, the Board of Aldermen determined a full-renovation of the pool in the existing location would save the city over 30% of the project cost and is the best use of city property. For the past year, staff has worked with McCarty Architects, Precision Engineering Corporation, and Burelson Pool Company to develop construction plans for the pool renovation. Plans will be bid in May with construction slated to begin the first of June.
