Highway 6 Interchange Proposals
Proposals for Old Taylor Road and Jackson Avenue Interchanges
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently held two Open Forum Public Meetings regarding the planned projects at the interchanges of State Route 6 with Jackson Avenue and Old Taylor Road. The proposals presented at these meetings are now available for viewing here.
The meetings provided the public a chance to view aerial photography and conceptual renderings of the planned improvements. The public was also encouraged to voice opinions and/or concerns on the proposed projects. If you were unable to attend the meeting, you may view the materials presented for each project by following the links below.
SR 6 and Jackson Avenue:
A Continuous Flow Interchange is proposed to replace the existing interchange. A continuous flow interchange (CFI) is an at-grade intersection that provides for increased traffic flows as compared to a typical intersection design. The capacity of a CFI is similar to that of some grade-separated interchanges but takes less space, money and time.

SR 6 and Old Taylor Road: MDOT is proposing to reconstruct the SR 6/Old Taylor Road interchange with roundabouts where the ramps tie into Old Taylor Road. The modified interchange would also include a 4-lane bridge. The layout would be similar to the interchange at SR 6 and South Lamar Boulevard except the roundabouts would be two lanes in width instead of one. The improved interchange configurations would reduce delays within the interchange, increase safety, and provide a better facility for bikers and pedestrians.
